Austro-Hungarian Empire: WW1 patriotic Cap
Badge of the KuK 1st Hussar Regiment "Kaiser".
The 1st Hussar Regiment "Kaiser" was initially
formed in 1756 by Emperor Franz I as the
Austro-Habsburg cavalry association. It was
awarded its standard in 1757 and took part in
the "Seven Years' War", called ever since
"Kaiser Hussars".
During WW1 the Regiment, manned from the
area of the VII Corps (Temesvar - Timishoara,
in Hungary) initially fought on the Eastern
Front. As the War progressed, the Regiment
was dismounted and its men were used as
cavalry marksmen, until the Unit was
dissolved in 1918.
