Badge for the Floatplanes of the Naval Aviation
of the Imperial and Royal KuK Austro-Hungarian
Fleet.
Dated 1914-16 and signed by Arkanzas.
The Imperial and Royal (KuK) Naval Air Force
was established in Aug.1916 and was renamed
to KuK Naval Aviation Corps in 1917.
Its first aviators were naval officers who
received their initial pilot training at the
airfields of Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria.
These pilots were first assigned for operations
aboard the Tegetthoff-class battleships.
Later the KuK Naval Aviation Corps also
operated from airfields in Albania and
Southern Dalmatia: Berat, Kavaja, Tirana,
Scutari, Igalo and Podgorica in Montenegro.
A scarce badge.
