the participation in the Operations during the
Korean War, under the UN mandate.
Signed "J. Demart51".
With 2 bars: "Korea" in French and Flemish
and "Haktang-Ni".
The "Haktang-Ni" bar has been awarded to the
560 men of the Belgian Battalion under the

Haktang-Ni suffered relentless Chinese attacks
which they successfully repelled, killing over
100 Chinese and losing only a 10 of their own
men.
The Battle was fought on 09–13 Oct.
1951 and it is also known as Battle of Broken
Arrow Hill or Battle of the Hill 391.
The clasp is scarce.
The medal was established in 1951 and the design
of its reverse side was later used as well for the
UN respective Commemorative Medal which was
issued to the members of the Belgian Contingent.
A rare decoration (less than 3.500 medals were
awarded in total) with even rarer bars.
