BELGIUM: Military Decoration for Acts of Bravery
and Distinguished Service, 1st Class (denoted by
the gilt chevron) with Gold Palms (for military
personnel that was mentioned in the Order of the
Day at the Army level) and bar "Korea" in French
and Flemish.
The decoration was instituted in 1873 and is
awarded to Non Commissioned Officers (NCOs)
and soldiers for acts of bravery or distinguished
services.
This is the bilingual example of the medal, that
is issued since 1952.
Note that the medal is identical to the Military
Decoration for Loyal Service for NCOs as
they were instituted by the same royal decree.
The 2 medals differ only in the ribbon.
A scarce medal that was awarded during the
Korean War (1950-1953) to a member of the
Belgian Contingent that fielded less than 3.500
men during its participation in the War.
