Belgium: Officer's Cross - Star in the Order of
the Belgian Crown, with silver palms (with
King Albert's Royal cipher) that denotes a
wartime award to military personnel.
The Order was instituted in 1897 as an
award for meritorious services at the Belgian
Congo. In 1908 the Order became officially a
Belgian Order, awarded for meritorious civil
or military services to the Belgian state, and
could be awarded to both Belgian and
foreign citizens.
