Belgium: WW2 commemorative medal for the
battle of Gembloux. In its box of issue.
The medal was established in 1956 by the City
Council of Gembloux and was awarded to the
members of the French Armed Forces (mainly
to the Moroccan Colonial Infantry Division and
the French 15th Infantry Division) who managed,
despite their great losses (of roughly 2250 men)
to stop the advance of General Von Kluge's
Panzers,at the outskirts of the city, in 1940,
during the German Invasion.
A very rare medal signed by Maurice Avril.
