Distinguished Service, 2nd Class, with Silver
Palms (with the Royal Cypher "L" of King
Leopold III)
- War Cross with Lion Citation (Regimental
Level)
- Cross of Honor for Military Service Abroad
(Foreign Service Cross) 1st Class.
THIRD LINE
- Medal for the War Volunteers of the Belgian
Armed Forces with Clasp Korea-Coree for the
Korean War.
- Commemorative Medal for Participation in
the Operations during the Korean War, under
the UN mandate.
With bar "Chatkol" and Red Cross citation
(for a combat wound).
The Chatkol bar has been awarded to the aprox.
700 men of the Belgian UN Contingent under the
Command of Lt. Colonel R. Gathy who during the
period of 26 Feb. to 21 Apr. 1953 held a defensive
position near the Chatkol village in the "Iron
Triangle" despite of over 55 consecutive Chinese
night assaults.
