Belgium: WW2 Medal of Recognition for the
Members of the National Royalist Movement
Resistance Group.
Signed by P. Degreef.
The National Royalist Movement (MNR) was
founded in 1940 and it was a right-wing group
of the Belgian Resistance during the German
occupation of Belgium.
The group was active mainly in Brussels and
Flanders. The MNR was involved in the print
and distribution of various underground
journals (including the paper "Vrije Volk") and
in the collection of information for the Allies.
In total, 160 members of the MNR were
executed or died in Nazi camps.
Around 100 group members were killed in
action during the liberation of the Port of
Antwerp in September 1944 while members
of the group participated in the liberation
of the city of Brussels.
The MNR was recognised as a Resistance
Group in 1961.
The medal is scarce as the MNR had
roughly 8500 members.
