Officer) on the lid, by maker H. Walravens & Co in
Brussels.
The Order was instituted in 1900, initially as an
award for exceptional military and civilian
services to the Belgian Congo. In 1908 the Order
became officially a Belgian Order as well, being
awarded for exceptional civil or military services
to both Belgium or the Belgian Colony of Congo.
The Gold Palms denote war time award to military
personnel.
This is the monolingual version of the Cross that
was issued until 1951.
