FRANCE: Crimean War (1854) and Italian
Campaign (1859) set of military medals and
diplomas to a French Captain of the Infantry.
The set is consisted of:
- The British Crimean War Medal with the
Sevastopol clasp. With its French diploma
for the medal and the clasp (on behalf of
Queen Victoria), numbered 86796 and dated
1856. The diploma is issued to Corporal Felix
Belugon of the 80th Line Infantry Regiment.
Please note that the Crimea War medals
were all issued unnamed, however the British
military personnel had been given the chance
to return their medals in order to have them
engraved on the rim.
The allied personnel usually kept their medals
unnamed.
- The French commemorative medal for the
Italian Campaign in 1859 with the respective
diploma (to same person, same rank and unit).
The medal is signed by the medalist Barre and
marked with the Barre's
anchor.
The diploma is dated 1859 and numbered
110082.
- The 3rd diploma is the document for his
promotion to the rank of the Captain of the
2nd Battalion of Herault (probably a reserve
unit) - dated 1871.
