Great Britain - Khedivate of Egypt: 
Silver Khedive's Sudan Medal with Clasp 
"Khartoum".
Obverse: The Coat of Arms of the Khedivate of 
Egypt over a sign inscribed in Arabic: "The 
Reconquest of Sudan 1314" (1314 AH = 1896 AD).
On the reverse: Inscribed in Arabic: "Abbas 
Hilmi the 2nd, 1314"
Unnamed as issued.
The Khedivate of Egypt was an autonomous 
tributary state of the Ottoman Empire under 
British military occupation since 1882.
The medal was instituted in 1897 by Abbas 
Hilmi Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, to commemorate 
the reconquest of the Dongola province. It was 
subsequently authorized for later campaigns and 
actions until 1908.
The medal was awarded to the Egyptian forces 
tasked with the reconquest of the Province of 
Dongola (30 Mar. - 23 Sep.1896) and to the British 
troops under Brigadier General C. C. Egerton, 
who took part in the operations south of 
Akasheh on 7 Jun. 1896.
The Bar "Khartoum" was awarded to the British 
and Egyptian troops who took part in the Battle 
of Omdurman (2 Sep. 1898).
