Great Britain: Queen's South Africa Medal (QSM), 
for the Boer War, with 5 clasps: "South Africa 
1901","South Africa 1902", "Transvaal", "Orange 
Free State" and "Cape Colony".  
Attributed to: 21654 PTE A. W. VINCENT 81ST 
COY. IMP. YEO.
(Private Alfred William Vincent, 81st Company, 
Imperial Yeomanry). 
The Queen's South Africa Medal was instituted 
by Queen Victoria in 1900 and was awarded to 
military personnel, civilian officials and war 
correspondents who served in South Africa 
during the Second Boer War from 11 Oct. 1899 
to 31 May 1902.
The clasps:
The "South Africa 1901" clasp was awarded to 
all troops who served in South Africa between 
01 Jan. 1901 and 31 Dec. 1901, both dates 
inclusive, who were not eligible for the King's 
South Africa Medal.
The "SOUTH AFRICA 1902" clasp was awarded 
to all troops who served in South Africa between 
1 Jan. 1902 and 31 May 1902 inclusive, who were 
not eligible for the King's South Africa Medal.
The "TRANSVAAL" clasp was awarded to all 
troops in the South African Republic between 
24 May 1900 and 31 May 1902, who had not 
received a clasp for a specific action in the South 
African Republic.
The "ORANGE FREE STATE" clasp was awarded 
to all troops in the Orange Free State at any time 
between 28 Feb. 1900 and 31 May 1902 inclusive, 
who had not received a clasp for a specific action 
in the Orange Free State.
The "CAPE COLONY" clasp was awarded to all 
troops in the Cape of Good Hope at any time 
between 11 Oct. 1899 and 31 May 1902 inclusive, 
who had not received a clasp for a specific 
action in the Cape of Good Hope, or the "Natal" 
clasp.
The Imperial Yeomanry was formed in 1899 and 
was disbanded in 1908. 
It was a Volunteer Cavalry Regiment and saw 
action mainly in the 2nd Boer War. The 81st 
Company was raised in 1901 and it was the 
elite company (sharpshooters) of the Battalion.
