(The Princess Royal's) Cap Badge.
The 7th (The Princess Royal's) Dragoon Guards -
a cavalry regiment of the British Army was raised
in 1688 as Lord Cavendish's Regiment of Horse.
It was renamed as the 7th (The Princess Royal's)
Dragoon Guards for Princess Charlotte in 1788.
It saw service for two centuries, including the
2nd Boer War (1899-1902) and WW1 where it
fought on the Western Front, in dismounted role,
and won 16 battle honors.
In 1922 it was amalgamated with the 4th Royal
Irish Dragoon Guards to form the 4th/7th
Dragoon Guards.
The cap badge is scarce.
