GREAT BRITAIN: WW1 Lincolnshire Regiment
Cap Badge.
Inscribed "Egypt" in the old British Alphabet.
The Royal Lincolnshire Regiment was raised in 
1685. 
It saw action in the American Revolutionary 
War and the Napoleonic Wars. 
During WW1 Battalions of the Regiment fought 
on the Western Front (Battles of the Somme and 
of Passchendaele) while the 6th Battalion took 
part in the Gallipoli Campaign.
During WW2 Battalions of the Regiment took 
part in the Battle of France, fought in Burma and 
the Tunisian Campaign, participated in the 
Salerno landing and the Battles of Monte Casino, 
Winter Line and Gothic Line in Italy and helped 
the Greek authorities to keep order during the 
Greek Civil War (1944-1949).
