The Order for Military Merit was instituted in 6
Classes, in 1900, by Prince (at the time, later King)
Ferdinand as extension of the Order of Civil merit
for the Military (hence the date 1891 - the year the
Order of Civil Merit was established).
This is the 5th Class of the Order. It was awarded
to Officers up to the rank of Captain, for military
merit during the 1885 War with Serbia, the Balkan
Wars 1912-13 and WW1 up to King Ferdinand's
abdication in 1918.
