Czechoslovakia: Silver Medal for Merit in
Defense of the Homeland. With the respective
ribbon bar, in its box of issue and with the
diploma of issue, dated 1971, to a Captain.
Hallmarked "925" for silver purity and maker
marked "Zukov" on both the suspender and
the medallion.
On the reverse: "ZA ZASLUHY O OBRANU
VLASTI" (For Merit in Defense of the
Homeland)
The medal was instituted in 1955. This is the
type issued since 1960 following the name
change of the country from Czechoslovak
Republic (CSR) to Czechoslovak Socialist
Republic (CSSR). It was awarded for bravery
in defense of the Country and its borders and
was suppressed in 1990.
