Denmark: Danish Long Faithful Service and Good
Conduct Military Cross for 16 years.
Early issue of King Christian X (Reign: 1912 - 1947).
King Christian X is remembered for remaining in
Denmark throughout the German occupation
during WW2 and especially in becoming through
his stance the symbol of Danish patriotism - a
popular way for Danes to display patriotism and
silent resistance to the German occupation was
wearing a small square pin with the Danish flag
and the crowned insignia of the King.
The cross was reformed in this form in 1854 and
was issued for 8 or 16 years of military service
(with the respective number on the cross).
