Egypt: Order of the Nile, Knight's Star.
Maker marked on the reverse by J. Lattes.
Inscribed in Arabic: "Egypt Owes Every of
her Benefits to the Nile, her Source of
Prosperity and Happiness"
The Order was established by Sultan Husayn
Kamil in 1915, in 5 classes. It was awarded to
military or civilian recipients who had
rendered useful service to Egypt. The Order
was initially abolished in 1953 after the fall
of the Monarchy but unlike most pre-1952
royal awards, it was redesigned and was
reintroduced, without the crown.
This is a nice, rare example of the WW1 era
(pre 1922).
