Medal of the War of Liberation, 1918. 
Early exaple of the medal, maker marked by 
Sporrong & Co, Stockholm, Sweden. 
The medal was instituted in 1918 by the Finnish 
Senate. 
The first examples, like the medal offered here, 
were made in blackened or silvered iron, while 
the later examples were made in silver. 
The Finnish War of Independence (or War of 
Liberation) from Russia during 1918, following 
the Bolshevik Revolution, is considered a part 
of WW1.
