The 3rd Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment is 
one of the airborne regiments of the French 
Marines. It was established in 1948 as the "3rd 
Colonial Commando Parachute Battalion". In 
1952 it was renamed to "3rd Colonial Parachute 
Regiment" and it adopted its current name in 
1958. The regiment is part of the 11th Parachute 
Brigade.
