Nations' Operations in Korea (also known as the
French Commemorative Medal for the Korean
War, 1950 1953).
Bronze hallmarked and maker marked by the
Paris mint.
On the reverse: "French Commemorative Medal
for the United Nations Operations in Korea".
The Medal was established in 1952 and it was
awarded to French citizens and foreign
nationals (serving in the ranks of the French
Foreign Legion), for a period of minimum 2
months during the Korean War.
A total of 3,421 Frenchmen fought in Korea
under the command of General Raoul Magrin-
Vernerey and distinguished themselves at
the battles of Wonju, Chipyong-ni and
Heartbreak Ridge.
