Lebanon: Commemorative medal of 1926 for the
Establishment and Defense of Lebanon.
Signed by M. H. Altounia.
The medal was instituted in 1926 & was awarded
to the French troops that provided aid in the
establishment and stabilization of Lebanon.
The State of Lebanon was established after the
end of WWI from a province seceded by the
Ottoman Empire.
In the initial stages of its existence the French
Troops had to suppress several tribal uprisings
and also attempts by Syria to occupy and annex
the newly formed country.
The medal is very rare.
