FRANCE: Commemorative Medal for the 1st
and 2nd French Colonial Campaigns in
Dahomey (Benin), in 1890 & 1892 respectively.
Signed by Daniel Dupuise, marked "1" (silver
purity mark of the Paris Mint) and also by Jean
Lagrange, chief engraver (axe mark).
The medal was instituted in 1892 and was
awarded to the 4000 soldiers and sailors of the
French Expeditionary Corps under the
command of Colonel Dodds.
