FRANCE: Silver Medal of Honor of the French
Ministry of Interior for Acts of Courage and
Devotion.
Attributed to Breard Elisee.
Dated 1895 (the year of the 2nd Madagascar
Campaign).
Signed by Oscar Roty, marked "Argent" (silver) on
the rim.
With palms and officer's bar on top of the ribbon.
The medal was instituted in 1820 by King Louis
XVIII and it is awarded to recognize acts of
courage and devotion in situations where the
recipient puts his/hers own life in risk while
attempting to save other people's lives.
This type of the medal which is designed by Roty
was awarded since 1895.
The medal is rare.
