FRANCE: Knight’s Cross in the Order of Saharan
Merit. With unofficial bar "Sahara".
Silver, hallmarked by the Paris Mint.
The Order was established in 1958. It was issued
as a recognition of social, scientific, economic or
administrative distinguished services, in the
development of the French Saharan regions.
The medal is fashioned in the form of the Agadez
Cross, a traditional emblem of the Tuareg clans.
The Order was discontinued in 1963.
The medal is very rare due to the fact that it had
been awarded in very limited numbers and for
only 5 years.
