FRANCE: Overseas Commemorative Medal,
with clasp "Tchad".
The bar had been instituted in 1979 and was
awarded for operations in Chad during the
period 1969 to 2014 and for delayed awards
for operations during the Colonial conflict
that led to the Independence of Chad (1960).
The Colonial medal was established in 1893.
The Overseas Medal replaced the Colonial
medal in 1962.
It is awarded to military personnel who
operated overseas, usually in the former

of service are indicated by a gilt campaign
