FRANCE: Paper weight - inkwell in the form of a
Cavalry Soldier - cavalry rider with Adrian helmet.
The 2 helmets on the left and rigt of the rider hide
the ink reservoirs.
The dedication sign relates the inkwell to the
Coetquidan Barracks (station of the Saint-Cyr
Officer's Academy, which had been founded by
Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802).
Probably a gift to an officer. Such gifts were
typical and representative of the interwar period.
The inkwell is numbered #509 and marked "Made
in France" - a logo already in use during the
interwar period.
