FRANCE: Paper weight/inkwell in the form of the
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Triumphal
Arc in Paris, during the midwar period.
There is a dedication sign on it that relates the
item to the Barracks of Mourmelon (station of
Armored Units during the post WW1 period).
Probably given as a gift to an officer.
Such gifts were typical and representative of the
interwar period.
The little bowl for the ink under the cover of the
tomb is intact.
The inkwell is marked "Made in France" (the logo
was in used after the end of WW1) and numbered
2155.
