FRANCE: WW1 Colonial Medal with "Maroc"
(Morocco) clasp on the ribbon.
Intermediate type (1913 - 1938), designed by
George Lemaire (signed on the obverse, with
his initials on the reverse side) and hallmarked
~1~ for silver purity.
The clasp "Maroc" was issued to replace the
Morocco Campaign Commemorative Medal and
was awarded for peacekeeping operations
between 1914 and 1925.
The Colonial medal was established in 1893
and was awarded to military personnel who
operated in French colonies and protectorates.
In total there are established 52 official and 63
unofficial bars for the colonial medal.
The award was replaced in 1962 by the
Overseas Medal.
