The Cross was instituted in 1935 and was
issued initially to French and foreign volunteers
combatants of the Great War - at a later stage
the issuance of the Cross was expanded to
cover the WW2 Volunteers and the Volunteers
of the Colonial Wars.
Maker marked and hallmarked for bronze by
the Paris Mint.
