FRANCE: Commemorative Medal for Service
during the plebiscite in Upper Silesia (1920-
1922) that was to determine, according to the
provisions of the Versailles treaty, whether
the territory should remain a part of Germany
or should be annexed by Poland.
The French troops in Upper Silesia were
involved in peace keeping operations during
the Silesian Uprisings (Aug. 1919 - Jul. 1921),
where the German population opposed the
annexation of the region to Poland.
A quite rare award as only around 30.000
medals were issued.
