FRANCE: WW1 Commemorative medal for the
1918 Battle of the St Mihiel Secleur, with its
numbered diploma of issue to a Captain of the
150th Infantry Regiment of the French Army.
The diplomas of this medal (especially to
Officers) are extremely rare.
During the Battle of St Mihiel, the American
1st Army under the command of General
Pershing broke the German resistance and
captured nearly 14.000 PoW, opening thus
the pave towards the end of the War.
This is the rare French 1st version of the
medal, signed "F. FRAISSE“, maker marked
by the Paris Mint and marked ”BR” (for
bronze) on the rim.
