Medal, the rare Vernier model featuring the ball 
suspender instead of the common key-ring type. 
Issued unofficially by the municipality of Verdun 
to those who served in the February 1916 battle. 
Designed and signed by Vernier, with the motto 
“On ne passe pas” and the date “21 Février 1916” 
engraved on the reverse.
