France: Young Combatant Commemorative
Medal.
Maker marked: Decat, Paris.
With its rare diploma of issue, together with
the tube it was mailed to its recipient (a WW1
veteran) in 1972.
The medal was established in 1927 (together
with the respective Federation) and was
issued to young soldiers who were involved
in combat action (during the Great War) while
being below 20 years old.
The Young Combatant Federation, which is
still active, was established by Andre Salban
and today covers also the period of WW2 and
of the Colonial Wars.
The medal is very rare as it had to be claimed
by the potential recipients.
