FRANCE: Civil Wound Medal.
Circular type, designed in the spirit of the 2nd
type of the respective medal for the wounded
military personnel, but with different suspender
and white star instead of red.
The medal was established in Jul. 1918, to be
awarded to non combatant civil personnel
that has been injured or maimed due to enemy
actions in war time.
The medal was awarded to civil victims of the
Great War by the Ministry of Interior and to
victims of WW2 by the Ministry of Veterans
and War Victims.
The recipients of the medal were also given
the right to pension as Civil Victims of War.
This is a post WW2 made example, of rather
recent manufacture.
