FRANCE: Colonial medal with the "Extreme
Orient" (Far East) clasp - for service in the
French Indochina.
Rare unmarked version of the WW2 era,
without the designer's "GL" monogram (for
George Lemaire), with ball suspender.
The Colonial medal was established in 1893
and was awarded to military personnel who
operated in French protectorates and
colonies.
In total there are established 52 official and
63 unofficial bars for the colonial medal.
The award was replaced in 1962 by the
Overseas Medal.
