FRANCE: WW2 Dunkirk Medal.
The "Dunkirk" medals were unofficial awards,
by the municipality of Dunkirk, to military
personnel, French and British, who participated
in or supported the respective evacuation in
1940.
The medal was instituted in 1960.
This is the rare initial example, that was awarded
to French recipients, with the stamp of the Paris
School of Arts on the reverse side.
A total of 30.000 such medals were awarded.
