Cross, with its diploma of issue to the CO
(Commanding Officer) of an Infantry Battalion.
Dated 1965, the diploma comes with its original
cylinder of issue.
- National Order of the Legion of Honor, Knight's
Cross, boxed, with its diploma of issue. Awarded
to the same officer for his service as an Infantry
Captain.
The diploma is dated 1953.
Both awards are most likely related to either WW2
or Colonial War Service.
The Order of Honor was established by Napoleon
Bonaparte in 1802 and is awarded to both French
and foreign citizens for outstanding civil or
military service to France.
The National Order of the Legion of Honor is the
highest national decoration of France.
