Commemorative medal of Grand Duke Adolphe
of Luxembourg - former Duke of Nassau – 1909.
The medal was instituted on 26 Oct. 1909 by
Grand Duchess Maria Anna to commemorate
the unveiling of the Country’s Monument
(Nassauische Landesdenkmal) to Grand Duke
Adolph, in Wiesbaden.
The medal was designed and signed by Alois
Borsch of the Mint of Munich and was awarded to
3,228 attendees in total (NCO's and other ranks).
Prussia annexed the Duchy of Nassau in 1866
following the German Civil War (Prussia vs
Austria – Hungary)
