The medal was instituted in 1862 by Kaiser Wilhelm I
and was awarded to those who were involved in the
preparation of the Coronation ceremony, to the
military personnel (Officers and Soldiers) who were
on duty during the event, as well as to officials and
foreign delegations who attended to the coronation
ceremony that took place in Konigsberg.
The medal had been also awarded with blue ribbon
to the members of the Russian Delegation.
