Imperial Germany: Cigarette Box of the brand
"Constantin" for 100 "Kaiserpreis" N.55
cigarettes.
The tobacco firm Constantin A-G. was based
in Hanover and this is the box of their supreme
quality cigarettes (hence "Kaiserpreis -
Emperor's Award) made of tobacco from the
Ottoman Empire (selections from Xanthi,
Thessaloniki/Salonika, Kavala (all 3 cities are
part of Greece since 1913) and Smyrna in
Turkey).
On the lid: The ensign of the Imperial German
Navy.
In the center a Navy Officer smoking.
The box is maker marked on the reverse:
Union Werke Radebeul Dresden.
Dimensions: 16 x 10 x 4.5cm
A rare and very well preserved cigarette box
of the pre WW1 era (about 1910), in a size a
lot rarer than the respective smaller boxes.
