GERMANY - Weimar Republic: WW1 Cross of
Honor of the German Field Artillery Veterans
Association.
Maker marked by H.J. Wilm in Berlin.
The German Field Artillery Veterans Associa-
tion was founded in 1920. Lieutenant General
Fritz Jurst acted as 1st Chairman while Oskar
von Watter, also General of the Field Artillery,
was a founding member and served as Head
of the Association at a later stage.
The Cross was instituted, in a single class, as
an award for the Veterans of the German Field
Artillery who served during WW1 - further
details regarding the criteria of the award are
not known.
Just like the majority of the German awards
and decorations of the Weimar Republic era,
the Crosses had to be purchased by the
recipients themselves and they were banned
in 1935 by the Nazi regime.
Extremely rare.
