The photo is decorated with the ribbon of Karl 
Friedrich's Military Order for Merit on the upper 
right corner.
On the reverse: "To Corporal Lenz, 2nd Company,
 7th Royal Infantry Regiment of Baden Nr. 142 as 
award for his exceptional shooting performance in 
the shooting contest of 1894.
Signed by Major Hancke, Batallion Commander", 
stampted with the official stamp of the Regiment/
1st Battalion.
