Imperial Germany: WW1 Medal Iron Cross 2nd
Class, EK2 1914, with its diploma of issue (dated
1918) to a soldier of the Prussian 151th Infantry
Regiment (2nd of Ermland) together with his
Military Record Booklet.
Inside the booklet there are registrations of the
campaigns the soldier participated to (he was
enlisted in 1915 and fought until the end of the
WW1 in 1918) as well as registrations about the
award of the Iron Cross and also of a combat
wound in 1917 that would award him the black
wound badge.
The Iron Cross is maker marked but the mark is
illegible.
The Iron Cross was issued both for bravery in
the field and also for military merit.
The Iron Cross was instituted in 1813 by King
Friedrich Wilhelm III and was designed by Karl
Friedrich Schinkel.
It was also awarded in 1870 during the Franco-
Prussian War, during WW1 and WW2.
