Germany (Weimar Republic) - Prussia:
WW1 Knight's Cross of the German Legion of
Honor - Bismarck Knighthood.
The Cross was established in 1921 to be
awarded to Knights of the German Legion of
Honor, a WW1 Veteran Organization of the
Weimar Republic era.
Members of the Association were esteemed
recipients of the Association of the Medal of
the German Legion of Honor, not only
Officers but also Politicians and other Upper
Class
individuals with "decisively patriotic way of
thinking".
Among the most well known members were
General Ludendorff, the Field Marshals
Hindenburg and Mackensen, Admiral Tirpitz,
Colonel General Count von Bothmer, Field
Marshal Archduke Joseph of Hungary and
Field Marshal Count von Hotzendorff.
The Knight's Cross of the German Legion of
Honor appears in different variations and
individual "Knighthoods" - each Knighthood
issued different forms of Crosses.
Well-known among them are the Knighthoods
Bismarck and Leipzig.
The Crosses of every Knighthood are rare as
it is estimated that the Knights of the German
Legion of Honor had only about 5000 members.
