Imperial Germany - Oldenburg: WW1 Silver Medal
of the House and Merit Order, 1910 - 1918.
Obverse: Grand Duke Friedrich August
Reverse: The Cross of the House and Merit Order,
the crowned cipher of Grand Duke Peter Friedrich
August and the inscription "Ein Gott, Ein Recht,
Ein Wahrheit" (One God, One Right, One Truth).
The House and Merit Order was instituted in 1838
by Grand Duke Paul Friedrich August (hence his
cipher on the Cross).
The Medal however was instituted by Grand Duke
Friedrich August, in 3 Classes (Gold, Silver and
Bronze) in 1910.
It was awarded for services to the State and the
Royal Household and was abolished after just 8
years, in 1918.
The Medal is scarce given that only 147 awards
are recorded.
