Imperial Germany: Original WW1 photo depicting 
German officers holding swords and wearing 
leather jackboots together with local civilian 
women pose in a relaxed and jovial atmosphere 
on what appears to be a rural wheat-grinding 
machine (a horse-powered mill, possibly for 
flour production). 
Two swords (Kavalleriesäbel) are visible - most 
likely the officers belong to a cavalry or transport 
unit.
A thatched-roof stone building in the background 
strongly points to Eastern or Central Europe, 
likely Poland, Ukraine, or western Russia, where 
German forces operated during WWI.
