Imperial Germany- Saxe Weimar:
General Decoration with Swords (for War Merit)
on Ribbon Buckle - Medal of Bronze Class.
Late example (1918) in bronzed zinc alloy.
The medal was instituted in 1902 by Grand Duke
Wilhelm Ernst as a General Decoration.
The military awards, like this example, had the
addition of the buckle with the crossed swords.
Those issued during WW1, also like this example,
were dated 1914 on the reverse.
A rare medal as only 12.300 awards of all three
classes are recorded.
The bronze medal was awarded to soldiers and
other ranks.
