The Cross was instituted in 1921, by the Saxon
Veteran's (Combatant's) Association.
This is an unofficial award of the period of the 
Weimar Republic and just like the majority of 
such awards of the period, it had to be privately 
purchased by the recipient.
A very rare medal.
