Imperial Germany - Kingdom of Wurttemberg:
Long Military Service Medal, 3rd Class.
Awarded for 9 (IX) years of military service in
the Army of Wurttemberg.
On single bar.
On the reverse: "Fur Treue Dienste bei der Fahne"
(For Loyal Service Under the Flag).
The medal was established in 1913 by King
Wilhelm II and it replaced the respective award in
buckle form that was in use since 1874.
Originally it was made from nickel silver but since
1917 the material was changed (due to war time
shortages) to blackened iron as of this example.
The medal was awarded until 1921.
